Hello, my dears,
We at SARANGHAE are totally enthusiastic about Korean skin care - it is natural, often organic and simply wonderful for the skin. But today we would like to talk about something different: Have you ever thought about vegan skin care products from Korea?
Living vegan doesn't just mean avoiding animal products when eating. It's also about not using animal products in things like clothing or beauty products. Not only are meat and fish eliminated, but also things like eggs, milk, honey and so on. But how do you actually tell whether a brand is really vegan? Quite simply: the certifications! There are three big, super trustworthy ones: The Vegan Society, Certified Vegan and the Certified AVA. So keep your eyes peeled for these logos next time you're shopping!
Now you might be thinking: cruelty-free also means vegan, right? Not quite! Cruelty-free just means that no animals had to suffer during production. This is of course very important, but it does not automatically mean that there are no animal products in it. So girls, always check the ingredients!
In Europe, India, Israel, Turkey and New Zealand, animal testing for cosmetics is completely banned - yay! In China it's different, but they now allow the sale of cruelty-free brands as long as the products are for personal use only. There is still no official certification for vegan or cruelty-free in Korea, but animal testing has been a thing of the past there since 2018.
So, which Korean brands are vegan and cruelty-free? Take Klairs, for example – almost all of their products are vegan and cruelty-free. But pay attention to exceptions such as the Midnight Blue Calming Cream and Manuka Honey & Choco Body Soap. COSRX is also a great brand – cruelty-free and no harmful ingredients.
- Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop
- Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream
- Dear Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil:
- Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50PA+++
- Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser
- Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask
Vegan skin care is not only good for animals and our planet, but also for your skin. And who knows, maybe this is the first step towards a vegan lifestyle? Try it out and tell us how you like it!
See you soon and stay nice, of course,
SARANGHAE
